The Municipal Alliances of Toms River, South Toms River, Beachwood, and Pine Beach will be teaming up to offer free parenting classes to local residents. Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (S.T.E.P.) classes offer guidance and support, free materials and childcare for local families.
Classes are taught by certified S.T.E.P. Parenting facilitator, Christine Malinowski, M.S.W., L.S.W. Free childcare is provided by volunteers from Toms River HS East Interact Club. Books and materials for this evidence based program are supplied for free. Snacks and refreshments are also served. Parents, guardians, grandparents or anyone raising children may register. Couples, singles, and extended families are always welcome.
The S.T.E.P. Classes for parents and guardians of children ages 3 to 6 will take place Tuesday nights beginning February 18th. S.T.E.P Classes for parents and guardians of children 5 to 11 will be on Thursday nights beginning February 20th. Each course is 10 sessions long and will be taught at the Head Start Ocean, Inc. building at 1 College Drive, Ocean County College.
