As a physical therapist and a single mother of a 7-year-old son, Dana Sabato certainly had a lot on her plate. When the Pine Beach resident was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in August 2013, things would never be the same for her.
Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is a cancer from the white blood cells. Although the five-year survival rate for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is about 85%, most of the patients, like Dana are relatively young.
Dana Sabato is undergoing chemo and a stem cell transplant. The treatments are taking a toll on Dana. And in October, the cancer returned. As a result of this, she spending time away from her job.
Two of her friends, Michelle and Elaine Trautmann, started a GoFundMe campaign to help raise $10,000 in support of Dana during this difficult time of her life. The money will go towards her mounting medical expenses that are not covered by insurance. As of November 10th, $3250 was raised through the campaign.
