Tuesday, November 11th 2014 is Veterans Day. This is special occasion to pay tribute to all of our brave men and women in uniform. In Ocean County, there are several different events to honor and remember our Veterans. Check out all of these local Veterans Day events. Here is your guide to Veterans Day 2014 in Ocean County:
The Ocean County Veteran Day Parade marches through Washington Street in Downtown Toms River at 9:30am. Bring the entire family to see the marching bands and civic organizations in the parade to honor our military. There is a ceremony after the parade for placing a wreath at the Veterans monument.
Veterans Day Ceremonies
Several municipalities across Ocean County will hold their own Veterans Day ceremonies on November 11th. A few notable ceremonies includes Veteran’s Park in Beach Haven at 10:30am, the Veterans Memorial Garden Site in Jackson at 11am, Municipal Hall in Brick at 11am, Lake Horicon in Lakehurst at 11am and Veterans Park in Ocean Gate at 1pm.
Ocean County College
Both campuses of Ocean County College are holding public Veterans Day Remembrances. The Southern Education Center in Manahawkin presents a 10am Veterans Ceremony with a guest speaker, a presentation of colors and refreshments. The Toms River campus presents a Salute to Veterans at Noon with a color guard, a band, rifle squad and a guest speaker.
Ocean County Library
The Library will also pay tribute to our Veterans on November 11th. At 11am at the Toms River Branch of the Ocean County Library, check out a Veterans celebration with local veterans, historians and refreshments. At 7pm, the Little Egg Harbor Branch of the Ocean County Library presents ‘Songs and Letters WWII”. This show, from the Traveling Literary Tribute, features stories and songs from the men and women who fought during World War Two.
