Happy Halloween 2014, Ocean County. One of the most fun (and sometimes spookiest) holidays of the year is finally here at the Jersey Shore. The great thing about Halloween in Ocean County is that even before the holiday arrives on October 31st, there are plenty of Halloween happenings occurring in the days leading up to it. Halloween in Ocean County features hayrides, haunted walks, costume contests, entertainment, parades and more. Here is your guide to Halloween 2014:
Northeast Ocean County
Eakfest, a haunted Halloween fundraiser to fight cystic fibrosis, is front and center at the Pioneer Hose Fire House in Brick on October 17th from 5pm-10pm and October 18th from 3pm-10pm. Tickets include $10 for adults and $5 for kids. Check out the Haunted Trail for adults and non-scary hayrides for the entire family.
The Brick Halloween Spooktacular and the Trunk or Treat takes place on October 22nd from 6pm-8pm at the Drum Point Sports Complex. Come by to see the residents decorate their cars and hand out treats. There are also hayrides and a costume parade.
Riddlesbrood Touring Theatre Company presents the classic story of Frankenstein at the Strand Center for the Arts in Lakewood on October 24th and 25th. Tickets are $28.
The 34th Annual Costume and Float Parade marches down Bridge Avenue in Point Pleasant Borough on October 26th from 1pm-3pm. Check out the floats and live music.
Lakewood Townsquare is the site of a Halloween Party and Costume Parade on October 30th at 4pm. Bring the entire family to enjoy the face painting and FREE trick or treat bags.
Northwest Ocean County
The Manchester Family Golf Center hosts their 2nd Annual Haunted Holes Miniature Golf from 6pm -10pm on selected dates from October 17th-31st. Check out a combination of golf and zombies. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for kids.
Take a Halloween Hayride and see the Trunk or Treat at Manchester High School on October 24th from 7pm-9pm. Tickets are $2. Stay for the special performance of “Thriller”.
Jackson presents a FREE Halloween Festival on October 25th in Johnson Memorial Park. Festivities include a juggling show, a magic show, a costume contest, pumpkins, vendors and fireworks.
On Halloween October 31st, Jackson Premium Outlets has Trick or Treat Candy available to kids under 12 from 5pm-8pm.
Toms River Area
See the Dark Carnival at Blackbeard’s Cave in Bayville every Friday, Saturday and Sunday this October. Tickets are $15 for adult and $8 for kids under 12. This circus-themed haunted attraction includes the Meat Grinder, Night Terrors and the Sanitarium.
Cattus Island’s Terror Walk in Toms River presents their Horror Movie Massacre, a 20-minute Halloween walk (not for kids under 8). Check it out from 7pm-9pm on October 17th and 18th.
It is the Lavallette Halloween Harvest Hoedown at the Gazebo. This FREE event on October 24th from 2:30pm-6:30pm features a bonfire, pony rides, food and entertainment.
The Music Man Singing Ice Cream Shoppe in Lavallette hosts special Halloween shows on Octber 25th starting at 2pm.
See the 76th annual Toms River Volunteer Fire Company #1 Parade on October 25th at 7pm. The parade, on Main Street, was once the 2nd largest Halloween parade in the World, and it is still really awesome. Come by to support the bands and organizations.
Southern Ocean County
The Long Beach Island Branch of the Ocean County Library (in Surf City) hosts a Halloween Costume Contest, for kids ages 10-18 on October 15th at 7pm.
The 16th Annual Waretown Haunted Hayride takes places at Waretown Lake on October 17th and 18th. Join the fun between 7pm-10pm. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children.
Witness a recreation of a 19th Century séance and ask questions to the “Mystic Oracle” at the Stafford Branch of the Ocean County Library at 7pm.
The Haunted Seaport at the Tuckerton Seaport returns in 2014. Play black light mini golf, see a pumpkin patch, join the hayrides and more Halloween fun. Admission begins at $10. Check it out on October 23rd-25th.
