The winter is not necessarily when we think to spend time outdoors but I can assure you a little fun out in the cold temps can be invigorating and quite peaceful. Ocean County has countless opportunities to enjoy the beautiful scenery of beaches, forests, rivers, farms and gorgeous parks. While most of us take advantage of living at the Jersey Shore in the warmer months, I guarantee the quiet and stillness of the winter will not disappoint!
One of the best places to appreciate the night skies is at Jakes Branch County Park. The Nature Center offers the perfect lookout location from there five story observation tower. Located in Beachwood, New Jersey, locals can change up their usual Saturday night plans and indulge in a healthy dose of star gazing. Taking time away from the monotony of television shows, computers, cell phones, late hours at the office and endless emails is important for all of us to try at least once in a while. The benefits of detaching from technology, work and the hectic hustle and bustle of everyday life is essential in maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Adding outdoor activities to your routine will help to improve your overall mood, outlook and perspective while opening the door to new experiences and better health.
The Astronomical Society of the Toms River Area gathers variously throughout the year to catch a glimpse of the stars, planets and constellations over the Pinelands. All are welcome to star gaze, make new friends, escape from your regular routine and most importantly, unwind. This healthy and FREE event is fun for the family, solo or with a few friends. All are welcome to bring your own telescope or use one from A.S.T.R.A. The Society will provide plenty of knowledge while you take in the amazing view.
Come join the fun and relax your mind at Jakes Branch County Park: Nature Center in Beachwood, New Jersey on March 21st , from 5:00pm – 8:00pm. Night of the Stars is a free event and no registration is required. Simply show up and enjoy your night out under the stars. Bundle up and get outdoors for an exciting look at natures beauty over Ocean County!
