Since launching his business, Creative Click Media, just a few years ago, Adam Binder has certainly made a name for himself as a leading expert. The Manahawkin resident is member of the Toms River Chamber of Commerce, Stafford Chamber of Commerce and Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce. There are numerous charities he also helps out with, including the American Cancer Society.
For all of those reasons and more, the always involved Adam Binder is a 2015 Mover & Shaker. Here is our interview with him:
Ocean Happening: What motivates you every morning?
Adam Binder: I’m a believer in the concept that we are either growing or dying. With that in mind, what motivates me is essentially one of two things. The first is connection, i.e. my relationship to others; my family, my friends, my clients, and my community. I want to have a positive impact on their lives. I want to be a contributor to their joy, a solution to their problems, and offer relief to their pain. To be any and all of those things is to fulfill a sense of purpose and self-worth. The second is curiosity. Curiosity is, I think, both an intellectual and an emotional experience. Thinking and feeling are all the brain does and when I indulge my natural curiosity, I become more informed and emotionally inspired.
OH: What inspires you the most and why?
AB: I am inspired by those who don’t give up. It takes an uncommon strength to keep going when the going gets tough. Two of my greatest inspirations are Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Ghandi, men who achieved so much through non-violent means, who could not be broken by prison or social injustice. Another is my little cousin Lauren Calvo who battles bravely against the degenerative eye condition Aniridia, and her family who founded Lauren’s Heroes, a 501c3 nonprofit to raise money for treatment research.
OH: What galvanized you to start your own company?
AB: I never found the freedom and creativity I craved from corporate or institutional employers. I have a lot of ambition and an insatiable thirst for knowledge which I can only nurture by running my own business. Also, I want to leave something of value for my son. Something beyond a monetary inheritance. I want my life to serve as an example to him, a testament to living in courageous pursuit of goals and passions, both professionally and personally.
OH: Which of your achievements are you most proud of?
AB: Professionally, I’m most proud of my company, Creative Click Media. In just a few short years the company has grown from a one man show to an internet marketing powerhouse with clients both locally and internationally. On a personal level I’m proud of the son I am raising. I’m doing the best I can teaching him how to be an empathetic, caring, healthy & active person.
OH: What has been the biggest challenge that you have overcome?
AB: Learning to delegate tasks and let go of control has been difficult for me but I have gotten much better at it. The problem stems from demanding the highest quality work at all times and the false belief that no one can or will do as good of a job as you. The solution is to hire talented individuals and get the right people into key positions as quickly as possible. The better I learn to deal with this challenge, the more efficient my team is and the quicker we can grow.
OH: What is the biggest accomplishment that you would like to achieve over the next 5 years?
AB: I have plans to diversify my business by finding new ways to enter niche markets, the first of which is an internet marketing company for medical professionals called Grow My Practice Online. One of the benefits of working with so many business people is that I have been able to identify similar needs within industry groups. I am currently working on several other industry specific solution based internet marketing businesses.
OH: How do you think your friends and co-workers would describe you?
AB: Feedback I have often received from friends and clients include patience, efficiency, and creativity. Many clients thank me at the end of our conversations for giving them the time to explore their ideas and visions for their website and for helping them achieve success with internet marketing.
OH: What is your favorite place to go in Ocean County?
AB: The Shore!
OH: If you could go back in time and talk to yourself ten years ago, what advice would you give?
AB: Do what you love. By doing work that I love I remain motivated and energized which manifests as positivity in my personal life. It also allows me to lend my talents and passions to causes that I care deeply about which is fulfilling in and of itself.
