Fans of the NBC’s The Voice know Matt McAndrew as the 24-year-old music sensation (sporting tattoos and sharp glasses) who won the support of many viewers with his covers of Christina Perri’s A Thousand Years, Hozier’s Take Me To Church, and his own original single Wasted Love. But long before McAndrew became a household name, he grew up in Ocean County.
McAndrew grew up in Barnegat Light on Long Beach Island and became interested in music as a child. He is a 2009 graduate of Southern Regional High School in Manahawkin. During his senior year of high school, he sang during the school’s Christmas assembly, which it considered to be his first major performance in front of a large audience.. Although McAndrew now resides in Philadelphia, his Ocean County roots remain forever strong.
Matt McAndrew is now a Finalist on the 2014 Fall Season of The Voice. Now matter what the result, we are all truly proud of Matt McAndrew and wish him the best as he continues his music career beyond television.
