We are beyond Labor Day, which means that this upcoming Ocean County weekend should feature good weather and no tourists. That also means it is a great time for Jersey Shore locals to explore the area. This weekend in Ocean County features the Brick Green Fair, the Insane Inflatable 5K and the 9th Annual Ship Bottom Irish Festival. This weekend will feel like a great summer weekend, but it is just for us locals. Here is what’s happening in Ocean County, this first weekend of September 2014:
Friday, September 5th
The New Jersey Maritime Museum in Beach Haven presents a 6pm discussion on the Seals of New Jersey. Find out about the seals that inhabit New Jersey during this winter. It is FREE to attend.
Saturday, September 6th
The Insane Inflatable 5K commences from 8:30am-2pm at Seaside Park beach. Take part in this extreme obstacle course filled with the world’s largest inflatable obstacles. It is already sold-out, but come by to support it.
Argh! It is Pirate Day 2014 in Barnegat. This family-friendly event goes from 9am-4pm in Gazebo Park. Enjoy vendors, food, games, pirate music and pirate re-enactors. And it is FREE.
Support the 2014 Brick Green Fair from 10am-2pm at the Bob Anstett Cultural Arts Center. It is FREE to attend this community Earth Day celebration. Stop by and discover ways to adopt an environmentally friendly lifestyle.
Veterans Parks hosts Berkeley’s Community Pride Day 2014. It starts at 10am, with musical performances from the Infernos and Jukebox Legends. It ends at night with fireworks.
Sunday, September 7th
Sailboat races, vendors and street entertainment embark at the Island Heights Pavilion for Sailfest 2014. This FREE event starts at 10am.
Attention Bluegrass enthusiasts – head to the Albert Music Hall in Waretown. At Noon, the 41st Ocean County Bluegrass Festival begins. 9 different musical acts will be performing and you do not want to miss any of them.
The 9th Annual Ship Bottom Irish Festival is all weekend. Head to 10th Avenue for this family-fun and cultural experience. The festivities include Pipes and Drums, Irish step dancers, the Shamrock 5K and more. Admission is $10 and children under 15 are FREE.
