We are embarking on the First Day of Fall shortly, and yet it feels like another great local’s summer weekend in Ocean County. This is what makes the Jersey Shore such a fun place. This weekend in Ocean County features the Lakewood Renaissance Festival, the Annual Festival of the Sea and the Baby Boomer Expo. There is no shortage of fun things this weekend. Here is what’s happening in Ocean County, this third weekend of September 2014:
Friday, September 19th
The Strand Theatre in Lakewood hosts the Array of Hope Concert, featuring Matt Maher. The show starts at 8pm.
Saturday, September 20th
The Tuckerton Seaport welcomes over 100 classic cars at their Seaport Antique Car and Truck Show from 10am-2pm. There will also be judging and awards for the cars. The cost is $5 to enter.
Arnold Avenue in Point Pleasant Beach is the site of the 37th Annual Festival of the Sea and Street Fair from 10am-7pm. The entire street is filled from vendors serving delicious dishes (seafood and other cuisines). There are also games and rides for the kids at this family-friendly event.
The Pine Belt Arena in Toms River presents the Baby Boomer Expo, hosted by comedian Paul Venier. It is the perfect event for residents in their 50s and 60s. Enjoy great entertainment, vendors and FREE health care screenings as well. It occurs from 11am-7pm and admission is $5.
Sunday, September 21st
Bring your favorite four-legged friend to Jones Road Park in Forked River for Doggie Derby 2014. In addition the vendors, there will be dog competitions for numerous categories. The Doggie Derby runs from 11am-3pm.
If you love boating, check out the 2014 Jersey Shore Boat Sale and Expo at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood. It is $4 per person (FREE to kids under 12). Check out the vendors, the new and pre-owned boats and accessories. Plus, there are games for children and food.
Pine Park hosts the 33rd Lakewood Lions Renaissance Festival. Come by in your favorite medieval garb. Tickets are $10 for adults and $1 for children under 12. The Faire includes Shane Adams, the host Full Metal Jousting on the History Channel. Come see knights in combat, belly dancers, sorcerers, vendors, food and lots of great, feudal fun.
The 6th Annual Que by the Sea Festival is all this weekend in Seaside Heights. This FREE foodie event features a tasty BBQ competition. There are also crafters and LIVE entertainment.
