Happy October, Ocean County! It’s a great weekend at the Jersey Shore to go out and experience everything there is to do in October. This weekend features the British Invasion music tribute and the 18-mile run in LBI. This guide features some of these best local events. Here is what’s happening in Ocean County, this first weekend in September 2012:
Friday, October 5th
This weekend’s nightlife goes to 21 South Bar and Grill in Jackson with the Katfish Lucy Band is playing at 9:30pm tonight.
Saturday, October 6th
Eagleswood celebrates with their 16th Annual Country Fair today from 9am-4pm in their Municipal Building. From food, crafts, games, children’s entertainment, music and classic cars, this fun event is great for the whole family to attend.
Arg! It’s the Pirate Festival in Toms River from 10am-5pm at the Chris Episcopal Church. The Pipes and Drums of Barnegat Bay sponsor the Pirate Festival. Come out and see all the pirates and vendors.
Hear the rhythmic music of Duo Caramba! It’s a flute and classical guitar concert at the Toms River Branch of the Ocean County Library from 3pm-5pm. The music features a contrast of the works of several well-known composers from Puerto Rico, Spain, Cuba and more.
The British Music Invasion comes to the Strand Theatre in Lakewood at 8pm with a tribute to the entire 60s British music era. Attend the concert and enjoy the vintage music that will make you feel likes it is the 60s all over again.
Sunday, October 7th
After a great first show last year, the New Jersey RV Dealers Fall Expo returns again in 2012 to First Energy Park in Lakewood. The first show is Sunday from 10am-7pm.
The St Francis Community Center and the LBI Jewish Community Center presents the 40th Annual Commemorative 18 mile run in LBI. The race starts in Holgate, the southern tip of LBI and ends all the way up Long Beach Blvd at Barnegat Light State Park on the northern tip. It starts at 10:30am. This year’s race is dedicated to the memories of the 11 Israeli Athletes who were slain at the 1972 Munich Olympic games and to the people lost on September 11, 2001.
All Weekend Long
Seaside Heights hosts the Ocean County Italian Festival on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Come out and enjoy the tasty Italian food and fun Italian entertainment. And come on Sunday for the Annual Ocean County Columbus Day Parade, on the Boulevard, starting at 1PM.
