It’s harvest time in Ocean County, and that means its time to go out and celebrate at all of the local October happenings. After all, it is bound to be a fun weekend at the Jersey Shore. This weekend in Ocean County features the Ocean Gate EMS Annual Car Show, the Downtown Toms River Harvest Festival and the Our Gang Players Production of ‘Cabaret’. Check out the wide variety of events in Ocean County. Here is what’s happening in Ocean County, this third weekend of October 2013:
Friday, October 18th
This weekend’s nightlife pick goes to Caffrey’ Tavern in Forked River, where Instant Karma will perform LIVE.
Saturday, October 19th
Head to Ocean Gate’s First Aid Park for the EMS 8th Annual Car Show from 11am-4pm. Car registration is from 8am-Noon. In addition to the entertainment, vendors and the gift auction, over 40 awards will be given to the vehicles in competition.
It’s the Downtown Toms River Harvest Fest from 11:30am-5pm. Enjoy the fall food, pumpkin painting, LIVE music, a beer garden, kids games, vendors and all of the fall family fun. It’s FREE to attend.
Mystery novel Author Paul D’Ambrosio, who wrote ‘Easy Squeezy’ will be available for a meet and greet at the Stafford Branch of the Ocean County Library from 1pm-2pm.
Sunday, October 20th
Get your running shoes ready so you can participate in the 36th Annual Seaside Half Marathon and 5K starting at 9am. It takes place on Ocean Ave in Seaside Park (and down into Island Beach State Park). The marathon winners will receive awards too.
One of the greatest broadway musicals of all time will be performed at the Surflight Theatre in Beach Haven this weekend only. Our Gang Players presents ‘Cabaret’. Jessica O’Brien-Roy stars as Sally Bowles in the show. The show is not appropriate for children under 13. Make sure you come out and support the local arts.
Laurita Winery in New Egypt has their Harvest Festival on Saturday and Sunday. The festivities include entertainment, wine, food, arts and kids pony rides. And admission is FREE to the Harvest Festival.
