As we continue into October, it amazing that there are so many different harvest festivals in Ocean County. That’s what makes the fall at the Jersey Shore so exciting. This weekend in Ocean County features the Bricktoberfest, the 3rd Annual Fall Harvest Wine Festival and the Our Gang Players’ Production of the Sound of Music. Get ready for a great local weekend. Here is what’s happening in Ocean County, this third weekend of October 2014:
Friday, October 17th
The Long Beach Island Branch of the Ocean County Library presents their Books at the Beach, a book club for kids, at 3:45pm.
Saturday, October 18th
You’ve heard of Octoberfest? Check out Bricktoberfest at Windward Beach Park. 8:30am starts the certified 5K race/fun race/kiddie dash. At 11am, check out the fair activities like the kids rides, games, food, a beer/wine garden and more.
Downtown Toms River hosts their Annual Harvest Arts Festival from 11:30am-5pm. Come by to this FREE event to see the entertainment, crafters, artists, rides, a haystack maze, food and more. It’s great family-friendly event to see.
Scotty McCreery’s See You Tonight Tour embarks at the Pine Belt Arena in Toms River at 8pm. Tickets are $29.50-$49.50.
Sunday, October 19th
The performance of Melanie: The Living Room Sessions commences at 4pm at the Strand Center for the Arts in Lakewood.
Our Gang Players presents the Sound of Music at the Surflight Theatre in Beach Haven from October 16th-19th. Come out and see one of Broadway’s most beloved musicals, featuring classic songs like “Do-Re-Mi” and “My Favorite Things”. Support this local theatre company.
Over 100 wines will be sampled at the 3rd Annual Fall Harvest Wine Festival at Manhawkin Lake Park. Tickets are $12-$15. And remember to see the entertainment and vendors at the event.
Laurita Winery hosts their weekend long Harvest Festival. Over 50 different artisans will be there, as well as entertainment for children. And of course, enjoy the fall wine and food.
