As September ends, October is here and we are finally ready to enjoy some great fall events. There’s always something to do during October at the Jersey Shore. This weekend is Chowderfest in LBI, but there are also other events in Ocean County. This weekend in Ocean County boasts live performances, family-friendly events and a walk to cure diabetes. We’ve listed the best Ocean County events this weekend. Here’s what’s happening in Ocean County this Weekend, the First weekend in October 2011:
Friday, September 30th
If you’re a fan of bar Trivia, make sure you check out Trivia Night at Used to Be’s in Mantoloking on Friday Night!
Saturday October 1st
At 7AM, sign up for the annual Shark Run in Bay Head. No need to fear – there’s no actual sharks chasing you. It’s a 5K run that benefits Bay Head elementary. For just $25, you can run this 5K through beautiful scenic Bay Head and it will benefit the school.
Attention antique car fans. Check out the 2011 Car and Craft show at the Eagleswood Country Fair. Starting at 9AM at the Eagleswood Municipal Building, there will be classic cars, boats, trucks, DJ, food, craft vendors and more.
Get ready to laugh at 2:30PM at the Point Pleasant Library for “Jest Plain Funny” – collection of comedic monologues, scenes, plays and sketches that bring out the silly in everyday situations. Bound to be a funny show!
Our nightlife pick this week goes to High Velocity in Beachwood. Local musical act Johnny Pipe will be rockin’ High Velocity on Saturday Night. Check out the show.
Sunday October 2nd
It’s the 20th Annual Governor’s Fishing Tournament in Island Beach State Park. The largest overall fish wins this year’s Governor’s Award with his/her name engraved on the Governor’s Cup. It’s a fun event for the whole family.
The Central Jersey Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRFI) presents the Walk to Cure Diabetes on the Seaside Heights boardwalk. Registration is at 9AM, and the 5K race commences at 10AM. Their goal is to raise $315,000 and they could use your help. Sign up, participate in the walk and donate any money you can.
All Weekend Long
The Little Egg Theatre Company presents “Moon Over Buffalo” at Frog Pond School. Show times are Friday and Saturday at 7PM and Sunday at 2:30PM. Tickets are $10 each. It’s expected to be a great show.
