May has finally arrived in Ocean County. This is the time of year when the local events at the Jersey Shore begin to add up. This weekend in Ocean County features the Toms River Food Fest, the NJ Bluebird Festival and “Gypsy” by Our Gang Players. Check out this guide full of many local events. Here is what’s happening in Ocean County, this first weekend of May 2015:
Friday, May 1st
Art Schindler, a self-taught artist, will be featured at the Grunin Center for the Arts in Toms River from 9am-Noon.
Saturday, May 2nd
Marin Integrative Therapy in Toms River presents a workshop called “Tools to Cope with Anxiety and Stress” from 9am-11am. Three tools will be presented in the class, including a manual and breakfast. Registration is required. Cost is $30 to attend.
Veterans Park in Bayville hosts the First Aid Car Show, featuring several different cars available to view. It is FREE to attend. It is from 11am-3pm.
The Toms River Food Fest, on Washington Street, takes place from 11am-7pm. This annual event features numerous food trucks and exhibitors. There is also LIVE music and rides for children. And it is FREE to attend.
Sunday, May 3rd
The LBI Foundation for the Arts and Sciences hosts the Paint Your Sole 5-Mile and 1-Mile Fun Run starting at 8am. After the race, there will be music, vendors, food, a beer garden and more.
DE Wolf Farm in New Egypt presents the 2015 NJ Bluebird Festival from 8am-2pm. This FREE event features guided talks with environmentalists along trails and exhibits.
Our Gang Players presents the classic musical “Gypsy”, directed by Jessica O’Brien this weekend only at Barnegat High School. Get your tickets and support this local theatre organization.
The Tuckerton Seaport hosts their “Truck” erton Food Truck Preview all weekend. Come out and check out the food and craft beer vendors.
