It is officially summer at the Jersey Shore. Ocean County is always a fun place to be this time of year. This weekend in Ocean County features the New Jersey Gay Men’s Chorus Concert, the 3rd Annual Brewfest in the Ballpark and “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” presented by the Ocean Professional Theatre Company. Check out all of these local events for the first official weekend of summer. Here is what’s happening in Ocean County, this fourth weekend in June 2013:
Friday, June 21st
It’s a night of rock and country music with the Larry Stevens Band performing at the Surflight Theatre in Beach Haven.
Saturday, June 22nd
The Island Heights Cultural & Heritage Association presents their community’s Secret Gardens and Scenic Porches Tour, featuring over 8 beautiful private gardens and porches. Bring the entire family for this cultural tour. It starts at 10am and ends at 4pm.
Attention beer lovers- it is the 3rd Annual Brewfest at the Ballpark at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood. The first session is from Noon-4pm and the 2nd session is from 6pm-10pm. Samples from over 100 different beers will bb available for tasting, plus food, music and lots of fun.
The New Jersey Gay Men’s Chorus will perform a FREE concert at 2pm at the Toms River Branch of the Ocean County Library. The Chorus will play classical and modern tunes.
Sunday, June 23rd
The 15th Annual Pine Beach 5K takes place this morning along the Toms River and through the quiet streets of Pine Beach. Registration opens at 7am, the 1-mile fun run begins at 8:15am and the 5K starts at 9am. The race features 2 water stops. The winners receive prizes. Come out and support this fun local race.
The Little Red School House Museum in Waretown hosts “Through Their Eyes”, a special dedication to the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Hear war stories and view artifacts from these two historical wars. The presentation is FREE and starts at 2pm.
The Ocean Professional Theatre Company proudly presents “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” at the Barnegat High School Bengal Auditorium. It is a wonderful, youthful, lovin’, kissin’ musical about seven stolen sweeties and their shotgun weddings! Catch the show this opening weekend.
The Tuckerton Seaport welcomes everyone all weekend for the 21st Annual Baymen’s Seafood & Music Festival.
