August is here in Ocean County. That means it is still the summer at the Jersey Shore, with plenty of things to do. This weekend in Ocean County features Beach Ball-A-Palooza, the Lacey Shore Fest and the 2014 Boyd Memorial Swim. This guide features a variety of events for everyone to enjoy. Here is what’s happening in Ocean County, this first weekend of August 2014:
Friday, August 1st
Ocean County Park in Lakewood hosts the 2nd Annual Beach Ball-A-Palooza from 5:30pm-8pm. This family-friendly event includes games, entertainment, crafts, sports, food and more.
The Toms River Branch of the Ocean County Library welcomes “Dr Livingpeddle” a dinosaur hunter for a family-fun time with sing-alongs and magic. The show starts at 6pm.
Saturday, August 2nd
The Seaside Park Annual flea market takes place from 9am-4pm at the Seaside Park Marina. Come by to purchase some great used items.
It is the 2nd Annual Lacey Shore Fest at Lacey United Methodist Church from Noon-4pm. The Shore Fest includes a car show, art show, exhibitors, games, pony rides, a petting zoo and a BBQ feast. Bring the entire family to this fun event.
The American Legion in Little Egg Harbor hosts Music Fest from 1pm-6pm with a variety of musicians. All of the proceeds benefit the Coast Guard Enlisted Memorial Foundation.
Musician Phil Wickham hosts a benefit show for local Sandy Victims at the Church of Grace and Peace in Toms River at 7:15pm. The show is sponsored by local non-profit Jersey Shore United. Tickets are $20 at the door.
Sunday, August 3rd
A summer tradition continues in Seaside Heights with the 2014 Boyd Memorial Swim on the Lincoln Ave Beach. It is a 1-mile ocean swim in memory of former Captain John J Boyd. Registration begins at 4:30pm and the swim starts at 6:30pm.
It is the opening weekend for ‘Legally Blonde: The Musical’ presented by the Exit 82 Theatre Company. Tickets, for this Broadway smash musical, will be $20 for adults and $15 for seniors/children. The production, which is at the Toms River campus of the Ocean County Library, features 8pm shows on Friday and Saturday and 2pm shows on Saturday and Sunday.
