Bellarine Theatre Company’s mainstage production of “Legally Blonde” explodes onto the stage at Pinelands Regional High School to bring big time energy to the second half of summer. “Legally Blonde” is a musical adapted from the 2001 blockbuster film starring Reese Witherspoon and Luke Wilson. The musical debuted on Broadway in 2007 and was noted for it’s high energy cast, character expansions from the film version, impressive dance routines, and huge laughs.

Bellarine’s production features up and coming performers from throughout New Jersey. The show’s director, Caitlin Hughes, hails from Monroeville and has an extensive directing and teaching background in theater, having directed shows with theater groups in her area, running the theater program at Overbrook High School, and directing Bellarine’s production of “…Spelling Bee” last year. Ms. Hughes returns to helm “Legally Blonde” in Bellarine’s most ambitious production yet.

The musical stars Jessica Evans as Elle Woods. Just last year, Ms. Evans was seen by regional and national audiences as Charity Hope Valentine in Ocean Professional’s national tour of Sweet Charity. She brings professional talent and exceptional comedic timing to the role. “Everything about “Legally Blonde” is big,” she said. “It is BTC’s largest cast, our largest set, and even our largest pit orchestra”. The orchestra is under the direction of Andrew Wright, Band Director at Southern Regional High School, whose collection of musicians bring the pop-rock score to life. “We have such a talented cast, staff, and crew all working together flawlessly and we know that audiences will enjoy our production!”

“Legally Blonde” hits the stage at Pinelands Regional High School, 590 Nugentown Road in Little Egg Harbor. Performances are July 31, August 1, August 6, and August 7 at 7:00 pm with a 4:00 pm matinee on August 8th. Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for students and seniors, and $10 for children. The musical carries a PG-13 rating. Tickets can be purchased at the door or at www.bellarinetheatre.com.
